Fit For a Princess: Decorating Your Daughter’s Room

Once upon a time there was a little girl who wanted nothing more than to be a princess. With a little paint, fabric and a few special touches you can make your daughter’s dreams come true by giving her a room fit for royalty.

PAINT
Choosing a color palate is one of the best ways to set the mood for any room. Pinks and purples are the more traditional color choices for a child’s princess room but deep jewel tones like emerald and sapphire would be beautiful too.Is this new to you? Catch up here If you don’t want to paint the entire room because you are afraid it might be too dark, paint one wall as an accent. It will still make a dramatic difference.

FABRIC
Give your princess privacy for her royal naps and make a canopy over her bed. Try using a wreath of grapevines and securing it to the ceiling. Drape sheer fabric through the wreath and tack the ends to either side of the bed. Use the same fabric or find one that coordinates to make drapes for her windows.

DRESS UP AREA
Every princess needs a place to adorn herself. Make one corner of the room a dress up area. Inexpensive hooks can be hung to keep her crowns, dresses and necklaces easy to find and off the floor. A mirror hung on the wall and some shelves for shoes completes the area.

Other touches like a special lamp in the shape of a castle or stickers on the wall that proclaim your daughters name in fancy script complete the look for a truly magical princess room.
